The Hawaiʻi Coffee Association brings together growers, processors, roasters, retailers, educators, allied businesses, and coffee professionals from across the state. Our work is centered on one goal: advancing Hawaiʻi coffee through alignment, standards, programs, and leadership. Over the next month, we’ll be sharing more of the people, priorities, and work behind HCA because an association should be more than a calendar of events. This Thursday, October 15th, join HCA and instructor Tim Heinze for introduction to cupping, the first workshop in our quality and practice education series. Coffee communities are built by showing up. Today, members of the O’ahu coffee community are gathering at Maunawili for hands-on farm workday led by @jbrd . Events like this are about more than getting work done. They create opportunities to learn from one another, understand the coffee from seed to cup, and strengthen the relationships that hold our industry together. A few important things are happening across Hawai‘i’s coffee community this week: ✍️ Grant Writing Workshop – Session 2 Join us Friday, September 18, for the next session in our grant writing series and build confidence around identifying and pursuing funding opportunities. 🇪🇸 Spanish-Language Cupping Class Our Education Committee is supporting a Spanish-language cupping class @pcr.coffee, helping make coffee education more accessible across our industry. 🌺 Hurricane Lala Recovery Resources Cleanup and recovery are still underway in several communities. HCA continues to help connect growers and members with organizations and programs offering assistance, including USDA/FSA and FEMA resources. Some recovery programs have approaching deadlines, including the FSA Emergency Conservation Program deadline on September 30. We’re also grateful for organizations like Vibrant Hawai‘i that continue to provide meals, water, and direct community support. 📩 More details and resource links are included in this week’s HCA email roundup. This year’s competition celebrated exceptional coffees, dedicated producers and the remarkable diversity found across Hawai‘i’s growing regions.
